Electic fence charger info.....
We've been using a Dare 300 Enforcer (1.5 joule) charger to electrify our deer exclusion fence this year. The total wire electified is about 2 miles.
Googling around some internet sites I see that chargers with ratings up to 12 joules are available. Naturally I assume that "bigger is better," but I'm wondering if anybody on here has experience with the larger units.
Do they give deer a better "pop?" Are they dangerous to dogs or grandchildren?

most high outputs put out about 8000 volts at the box.
enough to really shock the pee out of you.
would only worry if a child got caught up in it/disoriented.

12 joules is quite a bit of "pop". I would be concerned about the grandchildren.
