Ya'll enjoy your public shoots this year...

They may not be there next year...

I'm looking for 4 or 5 spots also. I think I have a spot for opening day, but am always on the lookout for the rest of the season. If you have room for us, please let me know in a PM. Close to Sumter would be an added bonus.

    Thanks

Canal WMA in St. Stephen or Santee Dam in Clarendon county are usually good the first shoot.

    What Romeo said.

Another DNR budget cut coming on the very near horizon...

Myself, I am just peeved when I call in a game violation, I cant get any LEO responders because the LEO's are stretched too thin. The offender ultimately goes free.

    Sorry to highjack your post...

Nah, they both suck. The one in Lee county is good.. They even have spots to bury shells in those fields

I too am looking for a good shoot. Preferably private between Cola and the SC/NC line. I don't mind paying if they have birds.

Nah they aren't really that good. That's why DNR didn't mess with them this year, plus the money situation. Have a buddy that is doing an internship with them this summer and the canal wma along with 2 others, can't remember the names, were the ones that didn't make the cut this year. It sucks but that's the way it goes

I don't know about Santee Dam but Canal was planted this year. And it can be pretty good the first hunt. There is 6 different fields there that are spread out. It is not as good as it used to be 5 years ago. The fella what was working there no longer plants the fields. After the field gets burnt down the first hunt, then it sucks.

Won't a conservation permit get you into some "semi-public" fields?
