    Default Striper on Murray

My buddy just got a new boat and we are going to start doing some fishing on Murray. I grew up on Marion and used to striper fish a little there when you could actually catch a few. I have been on a few guided trips on Murray when i was younger. Anybody with experience striper fishing on Murray, please help. I am not asking for secret spots or anything. I just need some general info on where to put in coming from Forest Acres, and a general area to fish, the dam? etc. Also what is working now, trolling, etc. Thanks for any info.

hit the dam before 7am for bait and fish live at various depths along the towers near the dam.

I like to cut the fins off one(herring) and cast it out without weight.

I used to go out this time year near the towers and catch the fish schooling. I would fish during the week, in the afternoon, preferably on overcast days. They loved to bite zara spooks, creek chubs and soft jerk baits.

I would often bass fish until I heard the fish come up. They sounded like rain somewhat...

The big water point close to jakes landing is a good place to wait...

I would rather catfish right now than fool around with peanut stripers.

Father in law caught 145 fish Friday and Saturday in a tournement and not 1 was a keeper! The tourenment was won with four fish think the weight was like 14# or something! Peanuts are everywhere!

the fishing store on the same road as the dam carries live herring for the afternoon fishing.

afternoon they'll hit plugs if you can find the herring on the surface.

Murray is and will be off for awhile now. Take the time to go to the hill or Hartwell for the bigger stripes.
