4-24-09 More Small Striper
Got to the lake yesterday late in the day. Put the canoe in at the house and paddled around a couple of coves, tossing a topwater and a spinnerbait in hopes of finding a bass that was in the shallows to spawn.
Nothing happening there, so I went back the house and got the rods out of the boat so I could fix dinner. Walking back to the house, I hear <splash>.... <splashsplash>...
Turning, I see fish hittin' bait RIGHT by the dock. I had a small Rapala floater (the good ol' black and silver minnow) on the light rod, so I tossed it right out and BAM..... 3 pound striper. Got him off, tossed it again BAM .... twin.
Third cast got hammered, then the hook pulled out...
Fourth cast BAM - triplet.
Then.... nothing.
But it was righteous catching three in four minutes from de' dock.
All released. The Rapala was the small / smallest one they make, and one fish had it in his mouth like a stick in a cartoon crocodile's mouth. Had a hell of time getting it out.
