    Default McCabes??

Anyone know what days they are open and is it worth the drive from Charleston?

I'll check...Thu-Sat I believe, could be wrong. It's good stuff if you are coming through the area.

I can't remember...I believe pharm is right Thurs.-Sat. Also, I remember they close earlier on Saturday...around 3 I think. I'll disagree with him. I'd drive from Charleston to eat there one time, not on a regular basis. Also, Sweatman's is between Charleston and Manning! BD

McCabe's is probably one of, if not, the best bbq restaurants i have been too. while i would rarely drive any lengthy distance to eat at a specific place (regardless of how good it is) it is definitely worth a visit if you haven't eaten there or happen to be in the area.

Tater, how do these places compare to Bucky's?

(He'll smell a BBQ thread in a heartbeat and be here directly...)

McCabes is top shelf. there was a place in the Holly Hill area that I thought was named "Sweatman's", but I last ate there in '85 (it was an old house in the middle of nowhere turned into a rest. and the food was EXCELLENT). Dukes in O'burg is pretty doggone good too. With all that having been said, I'm not so sure that any surpass Bucky's. McCabes would be my choice for a head to head battle. If Bucky's was a buffet....no contest, lol!

Sweatmans IS worth the drive from Charleston but if vinegar is what you are after I'd get east of 26 and hunt the 95 corridor.

McCabes MAY be my favorite BBQ. I rate BBQ good, better, best. McCabes fits into the best category for me.

Where is this Bucky's located, I haven't heard of it, but might need to give it a try.

Edit: I found it, may have to swing by there sometime and try it out.

I'm pretty sure they're open Thursday-Saturday. I found their # online, call 'em to verify times, as they do vary depending on what they have going on. 803.435.2833.

Music Man on the railroad in Moncks Corner is even closer than the others from Charleston. Sweatman's and McCabes are excellent also but a little longer drive.

If you go, go early on Thursday before they run out of macaroni. I used to eat there once a week and the macaroni is grand ma good.
