    What's the spring-loaded gizmo underneath - a tensioner of some sort? Looks like it might get caught up on something.

    Otherwise, it looks like that sucker would go wherever you want.

    Rear axle probably "rolls" with the terrain to maintain as much tread to earth contact as possible and that gizmo would be a "shock" per se to protect the axle assy...just a guess tho'.
