Usually a tamies feet aren't quite as orange as a wild bird. They are a yellowish/orange mix and they are usually dingy and some have calluses(sp?)

A true wild bird will have more orange feet and there legs seem to be a bit smaller around than a tamie.

This is just what I have seen over the years

Their colors overall just aren't as sharp in the cases I've seen. More "defects".

But, then again, I've seen defects in wild/migratory mallards as well.

I can often tell from the behavior - less cautious, hens are more vocal, not as skilled in flight (look for spread tail feathers - kind of like a kid using training wheels). None of this is 100%
