Thanks for the info. I tend to agree pistol is the way to go. The bangstick i was looking at was a stick with the barb, rope and bouy attached so you could follow the bouy. But i dont see how you can get up to the gator to hit him with a stick. Bow and Arrow to "have possesion" then gun. I didnt get a tag last year so i havent been to realy Know what i am talking about. Maybe this year.

WD, you're confusing a bang stick (which is used to whack the animal for good) with a harpoon (aka. shakazulu) which is used to get a line in the critter. By law in SC, you have to get a line in him before you whack him for good.

A .38 will do the trick also, I witnessed first hand knowledge of such when I was about 10. Can't go into any more info, it was illegal but solved the problem. I wasn't the shooter
