yep Troy, the duck gods did not shower us with a great abundance of kills, we saw plenty of ducks, we saw plenty of species, mallards, pintails, BWT, GWT, shovelors, ringnecks, gadwall, woodies, the youth did not bag as many as they could have, but we all know it wasnt about killing to begin with. We got plenty of looks from JABS and MUrdocks dogs- like... hey didnt yall just shoot? Why aint I been sent after some ducks? I got my monies worth and then some! If we had NO DUCKS and NO SHOTS FIRED at the end of the day it would have still been worth all the effort, time, money to have met and seen this young Christopher, whom breathes so much life into others but yet we have no idea for how much longer, all we can do is ask that he breathes on many more people in his lifetime, I hate to sound like a broken drum but my little man was in tears tonight thinking of Christopher again, I had to bring him back in here and show him Chris' photos again- I told him he will probably never see him again, so cherish the moment and remember the joy on his face and of course say some prayers for him, it was a little too touching, Turd ended up in tears too, much like whats happening again now-- but hey its tears of joy not sadness, Christopher did me the favor! Thanks SCDUCKS and Christopher!

One thing I saw, that I was very impressed with, was the kids honoring the other's shot. I wouldnta done it that way...but it was good to see the kids waiting on each other.

Troy that is pretty much spot on. Very good assessment.

Its all good Highballin, I was not calling you out, just stating my viewpoint- I came up with 8 in the below thread, I think I heard someone mention a wigeon and a mottled duck- I saw about as many species in those few hours as I saw the entire year here on the coast- not sure where the mergansers were hiding, but I am sure one of them buzzed us at some point too!

I am trying to work up a deal where Chris' uncle can get Chris in on some more action...

    They live in Summerville.

JAB has graciously invited them back to Two Rivers for catfishing and deer season...

They didnt mention fishin...but I would bet, that it wouldnt take a stretch of the imagination to think he would have a blast with a tight line...

    Hint, hint, hint.

    p.s.
I am of course assuming that Chris' mom would be ok with him heading off on other adventures. I have placed an email...and with her permission, will put anyone in contact with her that wishes to keep this young'un busy.

Turd, I am right there with ya. I left yesterday with an entirely new perspective on things...I have been pretty wrapped and just in general bitter with some events from the spring. He woke me up.

I've got some land(125 acres) in the upstate(McCormick county) that hasn't been turkey hunted in years. Last time I went we had 4 or 5 gobblers talking back to us, but couldn't get them to commit. I'll see if I have a weekend off during turkey season, and if someone wants to call 1 in for the little man, I'll donate the time and place for it to happen. Got a big old house up there so there is plenty of room for about 8 people to sleep. It even has indoor plumbing! I'll see what I can try to work out.

If, Troyman or someone has the land, I would love to call up a gobbler for the boy!!! It would be the best hunt for me in 30 years of chasing those jokers.

My schedule is very flexible and I could do it anytime with a little advance notice. Just let me know.

I think he is a bit young for turkey hunting this year. Brimp busting would probably be a better fit for him.

I just want to thank everyone that was involved in making this event take place. I have twin nephews that just turned ten years old, and unfortunately for them, their father is not involved in their life. Even though it is bad situation for them it gives me a chance to be more involved in their life, and over the past two or three years some of my more memorable hunting and fishing trips have been with them. I too grew up in a similar situation as them, my father cared nothing for the outdoors, even though he did not discourage my love for hunting and fishing, he did not encourage it either. I was fortunate enough to have an uncle, and cousins that took me, and many of the experiences I had as a kid are some of my fondest memories today. A lot of times when I take them, I feel like I am learning just as much as I am trying to teach. Many of us take for granted the opportunities we have when it comes to doing what we love, I know there have many times when I was disappointed because I did see or kill anything. Then I think about the excitement I see from my nephews when I tell them they are going, and makes me appreciate the experience even more. In my opinion, introducing a child to outdoors, and teaching them to respect it, is one of the greatest things you can do for them. I cannot even begin to tell you the trouble I missed out on because I was in the woods or on the water. Once again my hat off to all you that participated, and keep it up.
