You better have a buddy around or a tractor. Fuck trying to move a dead hawg as big as those are. Do yourself a favor and let someone else shoot the muthas and have to clean the bastages. At my old hunting club a buddy shot one that weiged four hundred pounds and asked me to help him with it. After that little experience, I told him to NEVER call me again, cause I wasn't helping out ifn he was stupid enough to do it a second time.

Oh yeah ,my guess is 250-300lbs. They ain't no babies!

I am thinkin upper 200s. They look real thick and pretty tall but not very long. Only one good way to find out, ground check'em. No you cannot legally hunt them at night without a depredation permit which seems to becoming a pain in the ass to get for hogs, they have to be destroying a crop (not a food plot). at least this is how it has been explained to me. Lots of luck with them and put the bow down and get down to business with the gun because if you dont give yourself every advantage with a hog they will beat you and you will be overrun with them shortly

I hope you can get a truck or 4 wheeler to where you kill them! Dragging is not an option! LOL I had to drag that 140 pounder the other day about 100 yds and I thought I was gonna die!

bad thing about that land is that there is a big ass hill that drops off to the swamp...it drops about 40 feet from top to bottom... about a 45 yard drag up that hill and it will about kill you to drag a 130 lb deer up that thing, even with help... haha i guess i will have to learn how to field dress a hog.... take him out in sections... aint no four wheeler gettin close to him if he heads for the swamp... but maybe he will be like two of the deer i have shot down there... head straight up the hill and die at the top.... haha

Get you some post hole diggers and dig you a hole around 2 to 3 feet deep. The hole should fill with water where you are right? If not pour some water in the hole and fill it up with shelled corn. Wait a few days and go back and take them boys out with a head shot, not a body shot from the 30.06. They are just like big deer, they like to feed first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. You better take them out before they start breeding in your area. If that does not work shoot me a pm. I have some less than ethical things people swear will work but I have never tried.

Hope this can help on the night hunting on hogs.

    Feral Hogs and Coyotes
A hunting license is required to hunt feral hogs and coyotes. Coyotes may be hunted at night only as prescribed in the “Night Hunting” section. Hogs may not be hunted at night. There is no closed season or weapons restrictions for hunting feral hogs and coyotes on private lands statewide with the following exceptions; in Game Zone 1 it is unlawful to have in possession any firearm loaded with buckshot or larger shot or a rifle or ammunition greater than .22 rimfire except during deer and bear season (50-11-380).

Take em with a head shot. every single time i promise you a hog will drop without a kick when shot in the neck or head.

ive done it with a .22-250, they drop like rocks.

eyeball'em. if they are boar hogs ditch'em cuz they will be nasty. I am not a wasteful hunter but damn a boar hog is one stinkin son of a gun. the one thing that is guaranteed is that if they breed on your property and take to it you will see the habitat devastated.

I'll have to disagree with you the boar hogs being nasty. We've killed 2 in the last 2 months, both boars, one was nearly 400lbs and the other 140lbs and both made some mighty fine sausage. I even made some bbq in the crock pot from the last one and it was awesome. But I will say, the biggest one was a lot of work. Like you said, I don't like being wasteful it was a pain. Habitat devastation is for sure though.

I'd bet those are 225 plus hogs. I saw one on property I hunt just a week or so ago. Never seen signs or got pics of her though. I walked up on her while I was scoutin'. What's with diggin the hole and lettin water in for the corn?

best way ive found to get hogs to come in is to take a 50 lb bag of shelled corn, take 2 buckets, with lids, and pour half a bag in each, then take a bottle of corn syrup and place half a bottle in each bucket, now get the water hose and fill the buckets till the corn is floating. Now stir well and place the lid tightly on each bucket. Wait a week or 2, let it ferment, then dig a hole, put the mash out, and cover it and the hogs will guaranteed be all over it!

thats the idea HB. you can make some sausage out of a bo hog. I have seen a few that werent nasty but the large majority of the boar hogs I have dealt with have been extremely nasty. seriously though DDS put the bow down and get it done quick before it is too late. you still have a chance to rid them from yo dirt.
