Depending on the rifle it can be close, but generally I'll go with the Tikka. I've got two of them now and have no complaints at all. Slick bolts, sharp triggers, and accurate as hell. Guaranteed 1 MOA or less with good ammo.

My best three shot target with the .243 was 1.13" @ 200 yds in the 'X' ring. Can't knock that. Factory ammo - 70 gr. NBT's. Would have shot five rounds but ran out of that ammo that day.

    Have fun!

I own a Tikka in 7mm Mag. It's a nice rifle, and I enjoy it.

I guess it ultimately depends on the use here. Are you hunting deer primarily, or are you wanting to punch paper? Or, do you want a paper rifle you can take into the field?

In that case, I'd go Tikka. The 700 has lots of parts/barrels/bolts/triggers/stocks/etc. that can make it into one HELLUVA paper rifle, but it wouldn't be too practical to lug of a climbing stand.

The Tikka is good to go right outta the box, IMHO.

Uhhhhh, do what? There is nothing about a 700 that precludes it from being hauled up a tree. I have killed probably 70% of the deer I have shot over the last 30 years with a Remington 700. But, I digress....

The Tikka and the CZ rifles are both fine guns. I have handled the Tikka and talked with a dozen or so Tikka owners - It is a well made, slick rifle with a great rep for accuracy. The owners all LOVE it... and many of these are also Remington 700 owners. Nothing against the 700 - if you want to build a custom rifle, that's the route to go, or it may be fine out of the box - but the Tikka will do anything you ask it to. I have no problem with the plastic magazine so long as it works.

The CZ I have no personal experience with - others I have spoken to (including Snake Jenkins) speak very highly of it.

Thanks Rat. Nate Sneakins knows more about weapons than most people know about themselves.
