    Is ACC better than SEC?

Granted, this may be blasphemous. This could result in our press pass being revoked. It might even force us to wear a straitjacket to work.
But these questions have to be asked: Is the SEC really that good this season? Could it be worse than the ACC?
Laugh if you will, and maybe this will be straightened out in the bowls or the final weekend’s rivalry games. At the moment, however, there’s a case to be made against the SEC:

    • 3 things we’ve learned about the SEC

      1. Tennessee will aim high in its search. It will start with North Carolina’s Butch Davis, the Knoxville News-Sentinel reported. It seems a long shot that Davis would be interested after he turned down advances from Arkansas, his alma mater, last year. The next coaches on Tennessee’s list are Texas Tech’s Mike Leach, Cincinnati’s Brian Kelly and Minnesota’s Tim Brewster, according to the paper.

    • 2. Georgia’s defense is in a massive slump. The Bulldogs have allowed 125 points in the past three games, one more point than it allowed the season’s first seven games. And that three-game stretch includes games against the not-exactly elite offenses of LSU and Kentucky. Coach Mark Richt deflected blame from the defense, saying turnovers and special teams “issues” have put the defense in bad positions.

    • 3. Papajohns has bad timing.
And it doesn’t have anything to do with delivering pizza late. The new, Birmingham-based bowl hoped to draw a big crowd by getting an SEC team to match with the Big East. But current projections have Southern Miss or a Sun Belt team, thanks to the SEC not having enough bowl-eligible teams. It would take Auburn beating either Alabama or Georgia, or Mississippi State or Arkansas winning out.
3 things we’ve learned about the ACC

      1. Boston College’s secondary is to be feared
The Eagles lead the ACC with 18 interceptions, including seven in the past two games. Safety Paul Anderson leads the way with five picks. Bobby Bowden, whose Florida State team faces Boston College on Saturday, said many of those turnovers have been a result of pressure from the Eagles’ defensive line. “Their two tackles are probably the two best tackles that we’ve played against. They put a lot of pressure on from up inside,” he said.

    • 2. Miami’s seniors have been through a lot
The Hurricanes’ senior class will play its final home game tonight against Virginia Tech, with an ACC division title still in sight. The seniors have played through a tumultuous chapter in program history, one that has included the slaying of a teammate, the firing of a coach and a losing season. “This is the last ride,” senior safety Lovon Ponder said. “Guys are excited and ready to fly around.”

    • 3. Virginia Tech is confident
And for good reason, after running back Darren Evans rolled up a school-record 253 yards rushing last week in a victory against Maryland. The balanced Hokies piled up 400 yards of offense while holding the Terrapins to 228, including minus-12 on the ground. Virginia Tech is in a three-way tie with North Carolina and Miami atop the Coastal Division with games remaining against Miami, Duke and Virginia.

    • In this week’s Jeff Sagarin computer rankings, the ACC is the nation’s second-ranked league, ahead of the SEC.
    • The SEC probably won’t be able to fulfill its bowl obligations. The ACC could have too many eligible teams.
    • The SEC likely will put either Alabama or Florida in the national championship game with the other getting an at-large BCS bid. Otherwise, Georgia and LSU haven’t lived up to the hype, South Carolina has yet to beat a ranked team and Auburn ... ugh.
    • Tennessee is the worst team in the Southeast. No ACC team has a loss as bad as Tennessee’s at home to Wyoming. The ACC has had some close calls, and Maryland did lose to Middle Tennessee State, but that was on the road.
    • When Alabama thumped Clemson in the season opener, that was viewed as a mid-level SEC team routing the ACC’s best. Well, turns out it was the other way around. (The two leagues have split six matchups this season.)
Think it’s all a mirage, a result of the SEC beating up on each other? This season, that may not be the case. Let’s face it, the SEC has some putrid offenses (Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State, etc.), and while the defenses are highly-ranked, it helps being able to face those offenses.
Phoning it in. LSU fans have turned into great investigate reporters. For the third time in two years, Tiger fans snagged the cell phone number of a key opposing player. Last year it was Florida’s Tim Tebow, last month it was Georgia’s Knowshon Moreno and on Saturday, it was Alabama’s John Parker Wilson.
Wilson replied during his team’s overtime win by doing a mock phone-answering signal to the student section, which drew a 15-yard penalty.
“I got that from Tim Tebow,” Wilson said. “It wasn’t a very smart thing to do. I kind of let my emotions get the best of me.”
So who’s next for the LSU fans? The last home game this season is against Mississippi — look out, Jevan Snead?
Shay it ain’t so. Arkansas kicker Shay Haddock, now a former Razorbacks kicker, had a bad week.
He was arrested in Fayetteville, Ark., late Saturday night for public intoxication and minor possession of alcohol. With the rest of the Razorbacks in Columbia, the school took the opportunity to announce that Haddock had quit the team five days before.
Haddock, a sophomore, lost his starting job on Nov. 1, after going 5-for-7 on field goals and 10-for-11 on extra points.

From the looks of it, lots of people have decided that certain truths that have stood the test of time and scrutiny should be questioned or even ignored. I wonder, is this because of the whole "hope" thing? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that we now have a democratically elected black fella heading to the White House? Maybe you idiots have bought into the nonsense that all things are actually possible?

Well, regardless of the reasons for this little break with reality, the boneheads from tatertek would be better served to remember that if you hear hoofbeats, you shouldn't expect to see zebras...which is to say that the SEC owns the ACC, and it always will. And it's just that damn obvious.
