It's a little bitty Panasonic 40GB HDD w/ a 42x optical zoom and what is called a zoom mic.
Cost was right at $400 and isn't the greatest but it fits in a pocket, is light and I don't have to keep up with tapes or dvd's.
Oh, and takes an SD card to for still pictures or as a back up for video. Holds over 9 hours of video at the highest quality setting and 36 hours at the lowest.
