The first lever gun I ever wanted was a Savage 99 in 308 Winchester.... a friend had one in 300 Savage that was pretty cool, too.

First deer I killed was with a M94 in 30/30 which was given to me by my grand parents, which I will hand down to my boy. I tried it with the scope mounted on the side, as it an older model, no the angle eject. Didn't really like it, so I installed peep site on the rear. I hunt pretty thick stuff at my club which makes this my go to gun as apposed to the 7mm Rem Mag. Whats the scoop on the new 30/30 ammo?
