What is a Conservation Permit?

Its kind of a "gentleman's club" of sorts. The fastest way to not get one is ask about one.

it's not on the website because they don't just give it to anybody, pm trad and he can get you started on the paperwork

It's available through the Columbia office only.
We wore them out yesterday, 3 of us stacked 42 mallards on a plantation around Johnsonville. Had some summer ducks fly by, have to have some restraint!!!

There is talk of the General Assembly stopping the issue of CP's because people are saying it is NOT RIGHT-- you better get is ASAP- this will probably be the last year they are issued.

You do not have to renew them if it was issued before 2001- I guess you are grandfathered in or something

what good is a conservation permit? what do they do? i see yall talkin about killin ducks out of season and killing alligators? is it just on private land?

First they are not easy to obtain.
2- They allow you shoot whatever - whenever- as many as you need to shoot
3- You need to document your kills and report them at the end of the hunting year.
4- Mainly on private land- but if you can verify public safety you can shoot public land.

You can harvest game/animals on public and private land. It is pretty much like a 365 day hunting season for all game. This is just to try to keep things in check(aka. population contol).

so...... why does scdnr allow it? what good comes from it? is it to protect crops or is it to rid land of over populated species? or is it just something that everybody wishes they had... haha

ooooooo you answered my question before i could post duckmaster..... how much do these things cost? i imagine they are pretty hard to get....but i would love to have one
