Yeah it is beyond fucked up. Having automatic weapons pointed at you by 15 year old kids isn't great...

If you pay enough attention to catch it, the bribery when I've been down is pretty artistic.

They have it figured out. When Nutz took us down to Cancun, I just started handing out cash at the airport. He thought I was out of my mind. By the time we left, he was leaving money in the microwave to save the hassle. One of the best trips I have ever been on...

I went to Mazatlan about a decade ago and enjoyed the hell out of it. Ducks in the morning, head to the beach and go fishing in the afternoon. I've heard the Sinaloa Cartel started to mess things up there recently, in the past they stayed out of the city.

Travel smart with insurance and global rescue.
Most likely they pay the cartel a "inconvenience" fee. Been to those places, never bothered me although i was with Mexicans I trusted.

I joyfully handed my guy in Hendersonville a $100 bill as a tip and he threw it right back in my face and wanted to fight. When you find a good one, do not disrespect him by thinking he is all about the money...

Yeah...one time that I was down there, we were in some really thick underbrush under a decent sized tree while the guides were making lunch before the afternoon quail hunt. All of a sudden, 8-10 guys with automatic weapons came out of the brush from every direction. Turns out that they were Federales(sp?) and just wanted some ducks to eat. I think they were about to starve out there. A couple of those looked awfully young too. Was pretty unnerving for a minute.

If you go to Mexico right now or in the near future you have no one to blame but yourself for whatever happens to you. Also, call me a pussy but shooting 191 ducks with 2 people is just plain selfish.

That was exactly it. Mexgov would send them out to man a crossroads with nothing but their weapons. No vehicles, no nothing. They had to "live off the land" and the "land" was whoever came through the crossroads. Wild to see, but America was just a heartbeat from it weeks ago...

In my half joking opinion a prolonged cartel battle would be bad for the citizens of Mexico but good for the ducks. The pressure and number of people going down there has increased significantly since 2016 and the hunting has suffered. The ducks need a break.

I put my gun down one morning and soaked it in, had thousands of redheads just swimming in front of me. I'd shot for five days in a row then.. only once in somewhat high numbers for down there, the redheads I felt bad for. It filled a void, I dont think I missed a bird with my first two boxes that morning.. I dropped my gun on the ground and picked up a camera. My Mexican escorts at first were trying to coach me back into shooting.

Friend called in a private plane to take him back to SC after the first day of a trip we shot so many. All the trouble it takes to get there and he was done lol.

The South Island is wonderful. Bungee jump while you're in Queenstown.

West coast near Obregon is a shadow of what it once was from a duck perspective..

Cuz the Gringos have traveled and whacked the piss out of everything. Brant have been decimated from what I hear. Last time we went years back, the Pintail limit was 30. We had self imposed 15 Sprigs per man limit. It was tough to honor.
