    Default Parasitic draw

Have a large draw draining the battery overnight.

I’ve gone crazy with a multimeter and pulling every fuse I can find with no culprit.

What I am looking to check next? Nothing aftermarket.

How did you determine it was 18 ma which isn't that much considering how many amps your battery is?

I deleted the initial measurement as I had it recorded incorrectly.

Just went pulling pigtails, when I plugged one under dash back in horn honked and draw went way down to near 0. Hoping that was it.

My first suspect would be the radio. Can you just unhook the wiring harnesses?

I have kill switches in two of our vehicles because of this.

Just curious, where are these kill switches in the circuit?

Test the frame. I'd also pull every fuse and check to see if you still have a draw.

I had one once that was a bad bulb in the dome light. It took a few weeks to find it.

On off barrel switch on the negative battery terminal is how it’s done on tractors. I would be leery of that method on modern vehicles.

Not technically modern, but it works great on ours. We have a couple that I don't drive regularly.

Alternator. It can draw even when the vehicle isn't running.

Had one that developed this fall on 05 Tahoe Z71 I drive Shop kept saying it was new stereo I put in, called BS on that since it was put in back in April and no issues UNTIL they had to replace door panel switch for windows, seats and all that (BIL owns shop)

Did have to replace alternator Dec 2023, that had failed and killed battery so they took care of that

Still kept having problem, they did find door panel light was staying on but still same thing few days later

Sucker would be so dead could not jump it

FINALLY they had to eat crow and tell me i was RIGHT, switch panel they put in was issue . Took 4 months of off and on trips to shop and lost confidence in vehicle other than local drives

    Now all is well
