    Default Key Fob Programming

My kid drives a '15 Ford Escape. We bought it many years ago with a single key fob. I figure with kids being kids, it's time to get a spare fob.

Went to Ace in Lugoff and they ordered one. Spent nearly 2 hours attempting to program it, and they weren't successful. Supposedly they were going to order another, but they never did.

So - any advice on where this can be done for the least amount of money?

    Thanks!

You have to have 2 programmed key fobs in the vehicle in order to program it on your own.

Might be a trip to the dealer unless you can find a locksmith with the ability to do it.

We only had one fob but now we have two.... My wife has an '18 Buick Enclave and lost one of the fobs a while back. I bought a GM fob off Ebay and we (she) programmed it this past Saturday. I had been putting it off for whatever reason and she jumped in and programmed it. Easy... Plenty of Youtube videos and the procedure is in the owner's manual. Took about 20 minutes to get it done. They key inside the fob isn't cut but no big deal.

Triangle lock and safe would be where I would start.

Youtube that guy. I ordered replacement off eBay and it came with instructions to program it. Hit the brakes, turn on/off the radio, open the glove box, pop the truck kind of stuff.

Thanks a lot. We can definitely do it. See my son Lance and he will take care of you.

I kept Wife’s 05 Z71 tahoe after we got her a new Highlander.

Sucker has a damn aftermarket alarm/key fob and only got one . Found same brand and model on Ebay (Python or something like that) and me or nobody else can program the SOB

Bout to the point to just get someone to put new system in or something

youtube makes it LOOk easy but damn if I or anyone else can make it work

I don't this doesn't help your current situation but the first thing I do, especially if I have two working keys, is to buy and program a couple of spares keeping at least one in the gun safe (because I don't have moisture problems).

If you only have one working key, you'll need a dealer or someone that has one of those plug-in-module things with active software. If you had the module, you could activate the software for a couple of days but I think it's like $50 for a short license so you're better off getting a second key from a dealer. Then buy a spare or two off of Amazon and program them yourself.
