Default Doves showed up over Christmas Holidays

Went to York County and took my 3 boys and hunted with my dad.
We killed 56 a few days before Christmas in the cold.
We killed 73 the day after Christmas.
The boys are 18, 17, and 12 and they have really gotten to be good shots.

I have zero doves in my field in Spartanburg.

That's about as good as it gets.

One of my favorite memories as a teenager was shooting late season dove in a snowfall with blistering wind. Those birds were flying like missiles...I killed 7 that day and walked away with my head held high like I accomplished something big.

Hard to beat a late season shoot. I love it when they gang up and come in all at once.

They’re nice hand warmers on a cold day

    January doves are the best!
Watched my field this afternoon and I'm ready to get it on.

I'm hoping to see a surge in dove numbers as the maintenance of corn piles subsides now that deer season is mostly over. This cold blast might push birds too and obfuscate the corn pile effect.

A single bird showing up in my field would be a 100% increase.

We went back this morning and had another barn burner.
    65 picked up.
Made bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on the tailgate while they cleaned birds.
The tailgater size blackstone has been on point the past 3 hunts.
