Both parents are chocolate and the breeder who handles the process for me looks at their genetics and can identify what they will have. I don’t have any idea about the science behind it but it is definitely a scientific process. I wish there was an ultrasound to determine sex and the number of puppies on board. X-rays are used for counting skeletons in the womb but her previous two litters proved the X-rays wrong both times. We could only see 5 or 6 each time and she had 10. The explanation is that they are stacked on top of each other and it’s sometimes difficult to count spines when there are that many. I guess I need to read up on the science behind the coloration.
