I killed 1 ringneck on a private pond that had hundreds of em. But it ain't no corn pond. This thing is every bit of 400yds across but ways. Tough to get in place to get good shots on em. Maybe better luck next time if they hang around.

    Anyway, how'd y'all do?

Public waters reports were dismal. Private plantations and draw hunts did ok. Whats new.

Sounded like the Russians were invading on the Waccamaw from the house this AM for 30 minutes or so. Reckon all the woodies either got killed or safely down.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

They were shooting good toward the lake this morning from my spot in Summerton. Some even paid for the opportunity to shoot before legal.

We had a mallard sitting on the water right near us about 10 mins prior to shooting light. There was ample light to easily kill her, but I don't desire to kill a hen mallard enough to break the law to do it.

    Still had a blast.

Everyone always pushing for cold weather. I can count on one hand that I’ve had a good hunt on a cold clear morning except when I was a kid and mallards were here. I heard bad reports from really good spots. Im glad I missed it. I took a storm call up here in NY.

I spent a few days at camp in S La with our oldest son last weekend. Worst hunting I've seen down there. Fishing and crabbing were off the hook. It was like early teal season 75 - 80 degrees, shorts and barefoot. We didn't even bother to hunt the first 3 days.

Y’all ever notice that a bad day of duck hunting anywhere else is still better than a good day here?

This fella would have gotten a retrieve or two yesterday if his owner could shoot straight. Lucky for me, he has always been very forgiving.

Sat in the dove field for a couple of hours yesterday. Didn't see a single bird.

i heard some great public reports and saw pics to prove it.
always funny to listen to how bad the duck hunting is in SC but then I hear about people getting after em.

That doesnt change my mind that this state provides poor waterfowl hunting opportunity.

Maybe stop depending on the state to GIVE you opportunity? I know plenty of people who hunted public waterways and killed migratory birds.
