sometimes my humor misses its mark
casey is the MD. calley was the author. ergo, it was "written" by calley.

and yes Feets, twitter and X may be the future but that doesnt mean I have to be a part of it. Much like early voting. i CHOSE to vote on election day.

and if only 7% of communication is thru the written word it means people cant read any more. plus, the double posting web site is trying to make it 14%.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

I'm not talking about couples therapy for dealing with marital issues or therapy to help folks that are dealing with real mental health issues or traumatic things that have happened to them. I'm talking about folks (mainly women) that are just paying people to listen to their every day life issues. What ever happened to mental toughness and/or reading your bible more when you're going through a rough patch? (Don't answer that, I already know)
Similar to many other systems, institutions, and ways of thinkings, the failure of the former way of doing things has become self-evident and unignorable. Everyone has trauma. Some are bold enough to admit it and deal with it, others suppress under the guise of mental toughness while using alcohol and other coping mechanisms to keep those demons in check, perpetuating their disfunction on their partners and traumatizing the next generation, while their bodies' self-destruct in the form of auto-immune diseases.

Fortunately, it's becoming more mainstream so that the followers and late adopters can feel comfortable enough to give it a second thought.

ETA: look no further than statics on veteran domestic violence and/or suicide rates to understand the fallacy of mental toughness. There are various mechanisms/strategies, innate and learned, that can help us survive in the short term, but the bill comes due, always.

Democrats stayed at home because they couldn't make themselves vote for Kamala. Fifteen million LESS than voted for Biden.

    That's why he won.

    Partially.

Look at the vote totals this year vs 2020. It’s not even close. I’d say he won because cheating, double voting and absentee ballots that were prevalent during Covid were somewhat kept in check in 2024.

you sure are using big words and shit. you been studying the dictionary in the bunker?

How many WWII vets were on anti-anxiety meds?

You often point out big pharma but you didnt this time??!!?

I readily admit I have no idea the stats but i would say "far more" people look to get help for their depression/anxiety etc thru pharmaceuticals. I'm sure that will throw off the numbers of how many people are truly "ill" but I bet the numbers would show a drastic increase in people dealing with these issues.

WWII vets had postwar downtime in country and then a weeks long boat ride with their boys to wind down and decompress. No American service men and women since then have had that luxury. You can’t/won’t talk about that shit with people who weren’t there.

That problem got amplified with the first Iraq war because everyone back home watched the war on TV. When we came back everyone was all over us exorcising the demons of Vietnam with joy and excitement, but I had no fucking clue what they were talking about because all I knew about the war was what we did. We didn’t get the coverage they did. It wasn’t a problem because the war proper was a day or two long in the middle of January. We came home in April.

I can only imagine how hard it was for the Vietnam guys to come home to what they did and even the GWOT guys. The GWOT guys were treated infinitely better, but they still came home to answer to bullshit created by a media that had turned and didn’t give a fuck about whether what they were reporting was true or not.

And then we have the VA and all the meds they were pumping………..

    Indubitably. Neurogenesis.

Pharmaceuticals mask or dull the symptoms so people can continue to function, barely. Many, or arguably most, create more issues that they resolve. None treat the root cause of the issue. Pharma isn't interested in a cure; they are interested in recurring revenue.

And to add to your first point; You're in country on a Monday splittin' wigs and washing blood off your boots and by Wednesday your wife is bitching at you about the garbage cans not making it to the road and the grass needing cut.

I'll not judge how anyone deals with their shit. Some take meds, some see a shrink, some go unconventional routes, some eat it and sit in it as if there's no way out and blame the world and others, some enjoy it and use it as an accessory to their wardrobe and some just like telling folks how much their life sucks for sympathy sake. Do what you gotta do but do something that works for you. Talking to friends, journaling, meditation, whatever. Get namasty with it.

Sometimes it can be as easy as staying away from the mall.
