    Default Somehow

They typically end up at a2z.

So this customer may be on here, he may not. I’m not talking smack but just sometimes and I mean sometimes cheaper is not better.

Truck broke down in Alabama pulling a camper. One hell of a situation. Pretty sure we diagnosed as an engine. 2010 Ford with 6.4. Anyways it ended up elsewhere. Customer came to me and was very honest. He took it somewhere cheaper. Had them bulletproof it. Well cyl 8 on these engine is bad about failure due to extreme heat from regen. Typically too late to bulletproof. So he takes delivery drives it a few and boom. Noise and engine is toast. Said person finds used engine pulls heads, bullet proofs it. Customer picks up and shortly later kaboom.

Shop/technician pulls heads and tells him he needs another engine. X amount dollars more. Truck gets towed to me in pieces. The bumper is even bolted in wrong. Yank the cab to pull the engine and curiosity got the best of us. It helps to put the engine back in the correct timing.

They put all the fuel components in the bed. All of it ruined from moisture. It’s literally a damn shame. He’ll have an easy 40k in it from us plus what he’s previously spent.

Moral of the story, yeah we were high but it would have left right and even if, because we do….. made a mistake, I damn sure wouldn’t pass the expense along to the customer by good verbal garbage out my mouth to blow his mind and he not know any better. You pay for experience and knowledge. I’m as high if not higher than the local Ford Dealer. Good luck with those clowns.

Note: no names mentioned. I don’t do that and you’ll never see me or anyone that represents my brand do that.

My guess is, both engines were out of time and after enough valves smacking the piston, they let go.

Sorry, no squat truck etc. I’m high on those as well. Especially now raising the rear back up. Solid 4 years of rear parts in inventory. Pretty good business strategy from a guy with only street credentials.

I remember when you were at the BMW store. Mama said "this kid is awesome". Boy was she right. Keep on keeping on with that same way of doing business, teach it to that baby girl, and A2Z will live long past when we are gone...

Believe I’d take the loss, scrap the truck and start shopping before I sank $40k into a 14yo truck. Talk about diminishing returns.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

That is what I was thinking. They can't be very good at math.

Yeah, I’d explain some math to them. But you’re in the business to fix them and make money, so it’s good for you.

I can't even begin to imagine a realm in which this move makes sense....

I'd be so damned pissed at this truck every time I drove it after this series of repairs, I'd prob'ly yank it to the right at the top of the McKinley Washington.

KRT is the man. When I have a problem or needs with a vehicle, I simply explain it to him. I drop the truck off and I'll pick it up. It's all fixed. I honestly don't even know what brand tires he puts on my trucks . I just tell him I think I need them. I trust him and it happens. I used to have a fleet that he maintained along with all my family vehicles, that he still does.

I love diesels. I’m blessed that diesel owners are typically horrible with math… just kidding. However I’m glad we built a reputation and the diesel enthusiast keep purchasing.

Especially the Fords. When Ford got away from Navistar in late 2010 and started building their own engine again (6.7) they went CP4.

    CP4 = job security.

It is such a rarity these days to have someone like Kevin and A2Z who you can have complete faith in. I bought a truck from him that he put an engine in and he went through entire truck before he let me pick it up. Solid guy for sure!

I mean considering a new f450 Lariat is $90k, I can see the math to fix it if they don't plan to get rid of it.
