    Default Protein intake

    Fitness guru's,
I have started tracking macros and found that I eat far less than 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight. Where do you all fall on this and do I need to eat that much protein per day? 190 grams per day is what I would need to intake.

I'd say depends on how active you are, what age, and what you are trying to do with your body.

I cheat getting extra protein a couple ways. Collagen powder, it's flavorless, can add to morning coffee. 18g's per scoop (they even have mocha flavor) (Vital Proteins brand Costco)
    Protein Powders
    AND EGGS. LOTS.

    Average day:

    3 egg breaky 20g
Double can of tuna 25g's +/- per can
Double scoop of some good protein powder (for lunch)
Dinner burger patty and 4 eggs is 50g +/-

Something like this puts me close to 150g's

I put up a post about this a little while back. I work out 3 to 5 times a week and I need 210 grams a day. It is difficult for me to eat that much in a day. I get it with lots of whole milk and whey protein. One gallon of milk has 123 grams and 2,400 calories. It’s the perfect thing to make sure you get there every day.

    Also, I’m addicted to it.

That stuff is for a cow to eat.

In all seriousness, what does a male vegetarian's testosterone levels look like at age 60? There is a lot more estrogen in a serving of spinach than any meat (including beef with a hormone treatment).

Ok and Joe Biden isn't cognitively declining...

Low T looks miserable, I have a good friend suffering from it courtesy of the WuFlu and the past 18 months have sucked for him.

0.7 grams/lb of your target bodyweight is enough to maintain muscle or build muscle depending on your total calories.

Protein from real food sources (meat, eggs, milk, ect...) is always superior to supplementation from powders.

Like Gbelly said many protein powders have lots of heavy metals and other crap you don't want in your body.

https://cleanlabelproject.org/ did 3rd party testing of all major protein powders a few years back. (link below)

a urologist told me Low T is not a thing.
seriously. its a "new" condition and the Rx companies are part of the puzzle.

    Your friend has different issues.

i'd eat protein, not shake it.

Did you care to ask this urologist how lab results can "not be a thing''?

Low Testosterone is simply lab values below normal ranges. You don't even need a college degree to read the results, promise. Hope this urologist is not so laissez-faire with PSA levels.

Its not a urology problem it is an thyroid/endocrine issue. He developed it courtesy of covid, it was acute as in to the day of when the issue occurred. As for general populace low T issues, I believe our food has a lot to do with it, I also know the Rx companies would love to sell you something to treat the symptom.

Yes eat protein. Food is supposed to be sustenance not pleasure, we made it pleasure.

PSA scores have been shown to be person specific in cases. ergo, the range isnt as important as "your" norm.

How about when your kids gets "tested" for ADD? Whats the quantification scale they are using?

As for low T, I agree with SD on a lot of it, apparently. What is the "acceptable" range and when was that number agreed upon by doctors? I was taught BP was 120/80 but apparently that's not normal any more. So, who decided what the testosterone level of a 70yr old should be? Your oh-so-important lab results are one thing. Whether that number needs treatment is up for debate.

I am just regurgitating info like everyone else. Mine came from a face to face with a human, not a podcast. Both are fraught with peril and disinformation. I dont know who's right, but i trust doctors and never go to them. Go figure...
