I haven’t shot a turkey in a few years. Between work, young kids, and trying to help a couple of buddies kill their first(throw in a miss last year for good measure), things just haven’t worked out for me.
I decided this year to focus on me first. I also decided I wanted to shoot one with my old 20 gauge 1100. It was a quick one, dead at 7:09, but still full of excitement. I was setup for two birds gobbling hard down the hill and this one gobbled twice and then came in behind me. He walked within 5 feet on my right, then spooked and luckily stopped at 18 yards for the kill.
No decoys, chairs, or TSS used in the killing of this turkey. Just a slate, an old shotgun, and 2-3/4” high brass #5s.
