Default What are the Cats Biting?

I already spoke with some of you around Santee, and I appreciate the advice. Just got 2 off the line and laying back down. Started with blue backs cut, and some shiners. Eventually went o all live perch and bream as they started coming to the lights. Kids tore them up earlier.

Didn't have any luck with the hearing. Caught 2 small ones early on with he shiners.

    Are you fishing deep? Shallow?

To my shock these last 2 came out of about 4' of water.

I'm static on the pier, so I have what I have to work with in terms of water depth.

I'm heading to the canal later this week to mess around. We usually just use blue backs or perch if we can catch some on the sabiki. It'll be our first spring time trip out, so I'm curious to see how it goes.

How do y'all set up for catfish? Carolina rigs?

That’ll work but I generally use a Santee rig to get the bait off the bottom.

My buddy went the other day and didn't do much. He talked with several others and they didn't do much. They all used the go tos....herring, shad, cut bait. As he prepared his boat for the ride an old man pulled up and took his boat out. The man pulled up beside him and he had a boat full of 10-20 lb blues, so he asked what bait are you using

    Answer.....stinkbait.

If your looking for 2-10lb eating size. We see if there pulling water at the canal and drop catalpa worms to the bottom crank up about a foot and drift.

I almost tried that last night but just couldn't bring my self to mess wit that stuff.

I ended up with a 25 lbs blue. 2 small 5-6lbs blues 3 channels 2-3lbs. Threw all the small ones back. I've got a messs I have to untangle due to the 25 pounder. He and I went around and around the neighbors pier this am for about 20 min. He kept trying to duck under the pier. The last time I managed to get the gaf in him. Not before he rolled around 4 other lines. Somehow those all got tangled up and the one he was on was ok???

Kids just came in caught some more bream for tonight.

I need some of these illegals to come help me replace boards on a pier

I still find it mind boggling that people throw back invasive species......

Santee, I like to use small live bream. A few lines deep and a few shallow.

    I'm rewiring rods now.

I was going to do a reverse sear, but in the name of Highstrung and my wife's desire for charcoaled grilled steaks and this beautiful certified black Angus loin. I will get these ready for battle tonight, and grill a charcoal steak! NO reverse sear tonight!

    After I trim it up!

For those of you not up on plasma theory, may I suggest this pod cast with Joseph P Farrel.

Do they even make that anymore? I shudder to think how many times I’ve tasted it for words that were to be unspoken as a child.

Shawn Ryan had a guy on the other day talking about plasma. Every time these guys come on and talk about mountains of evidence but I never see it produced. Just like zero point energy.
