I'm still confused as to why anybody would intentionally fish for shad.
Crops are harvested, animals are killed.
Cause it’s fun, and there’s nothing else to do this time of year. Take an ultralight out there and tell me it’s not fun
More Ducks, Less People
Alright. I was seriously asking cause I've never, until now, heard of anyone intentionally fishing for them.
Crops are harvested, animals are killed.
Not to mention a set of roe wrapped in bacon, grilled, with grits is about the finest eating known to man.
I'm actually going OOS to fish a shad tournament with my brother and best friend toward the end of April. Fun to catch, and cash prizes.
I kinda fond of Mullet roe for sure. You see any roe mullet down that way. Used to be a fish market up here that sold mullet and threw the roe away as nobody would buy it but me.
What effect does Dominion dumping water through the dam and the locks have on the shad fishery?
Got home yesterday after 4 days of fishing in a shad tournament. There were 1,100 entries this year, and we finished 8th overall, and 2nd on the day 3 daily. Long days, but had a blast with my brother, and best friend. Split the winnings between the boat.
Top 10 overall, and top 4 daily weights are prize money. The boat finished 11th two years in a row previously. Felt good to get on the board and in the money. It's a "big fish" tourn. and there wasn't much of a difference between 1st and 10th. I was 0.16 lb. out of first and finished 8th!
