Default Feds want to add ground bees to ESL

Federal officials to consider adding SC, NC, GA species to endangered wildlife list

One of the more prominent species up for consideration is the Southern Plains bumble bee.

The large black-and-yellow bumble bee inhabits open prairies, meadows and grasslands in the Midwest, the mid-Atlantic states and the Plains states from Texas to North Dakota. It’s also found in the grasslands and savannas in the southeastern U.S., including South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Queens can grow as large as an inch; workers can grow to as large as three-quarters of an inch.

The Center for Biological Diversity petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 2022 to include the bee on the Endangered Species List. According to the center, habitat loss and degradation as well as pesticides have led to sharp population declines in the southern Plains states, including Texas and Oklahoma as well as in Alabama and Mississippi.
Know where it also inhabits? Farms. Farmlands. Timberland. Etc. Etc. Etc...

I am sure plans to pave most everything from Fountain Inn to Goose Creek, won't bode well for pollinators of any stripe...

Man I used to smack the heck out of them with tennis rackets. They were all around our house when I was a kid but I believe it was more Carpenter Bees as we lived in a Log Home.

What would be a theory that the decline is independent of anthropogenic causes?

Their intent will have unintended consequences. The only thing that will be saved will be ground hornets and yellow jackets!
    Yup, he's crazy...

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.

Could have bad and far reaching consequences for Foresty and Ag in the form of new regulations. Just have to see where it goes.
