    Default Cummins recall

Those of you with the 4th Gen Ram trucks (2011-2018) getting this recall notice in about a ECM reflash….

That is what their lawsuit with the EPA was about. They settled and part of that was reflash all the HO engines.

Well if you’re the original owner and haven’t deleted, I’d be asking for my money back for the High Output option you paid for.

However this post is for all of you running deleted trucks. DO NOT have this recall done. An idiot at the dealer doesn’t have enough sense to know the truck is tuned, he flashes it and you’re a fish out of water now.

I got a notice but my truck isnt an HO (to my knowledge).

I do wonder when it will be mandatory to visit the dealer....

I thought it was because of the HO engine and may be wrong. They may be reflashing all of them, which would bail them out on the HO argument. If you're deleted don't go in.

You won't have to when they can update it like your phone. And if you don't do it the truck won't run right, until you do.

Got a notice in the mail the other day on my 2011 6.7L Powerstroke stating an ECM reflash being necessary. Tossed it straight in the bin.

KRT can they tell if you vehicle has been deleted when they do a vehicle inspection for DMV. I know SC doesn't do inspection but NC does and can stop you on the road to do so if suspect.

not quite sure about the inspection you're talking about. I imagine they wouldn't be able to tell unless they know what they are looking for. At thew moment though, SC has no vehicle inspections.

If you're talking about a DOT inspection, go to someone you know....

Not all counties in NC do inspections. We run into this with company vehicles and have to drive to another county to have the inspection done. This is emissions inspection, not safety inspections which are still required.

Correct. I was told the emissions machine were not capable of checking a diesel engine but that may have changed. It still plug up to the vehicle though just not the tail pipe.

We just replaced one that exploded and caught on fire. They drained 4 quarts of oil out of the intercooler.

The turbo was a non VGT aftermarket, truck building insane boost. Customer owns an asphalt business and had a load behind it. It built boost and the rest is history.

I’ve seen car hauling rigs deleted and build over 40 psi pulling a hill with 28k behind them and the boost lift the head on stock turbo applications. This is a first for a turbo coming apart.

This is the actual customer that showed me the recall letter.

All of you with an exhaust brake that you can physically turn on. Turn it on and leave it on. The exhaust brake helps burn the soot off the variable veins (VGT) which allows them to move freely.

    Save you thousands….

That engine brake on a Cummins is what Ford and Chevy is envy of. They can’t make a V8 sound that good.

No wonder RAM’s giving trucks away with the purchase of a CTD now.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Around Charleston the only dealership with any 3/4 and 1 ton trucks on the lot ready to go seems to be the Ram Dealers. They still have some "Brand New" 2022 models they are trying to sell. I haven't heard of anyone getting any crazy deals on them in Charleston yet, but I'm sure its coming. I would consider a Power Wagon if I could get one sub $50k.
