    Default 2016 Ram 1500?

I’m experiencing a whining noise that sounds like it’s coming from back of vehicle when running about 60 mph and above. Has anyone delt with this in a ram and if so what are some of the things I should be checking?

    Thanks

Ryan, you probably don’t want to hear this but….sounds like it could be the rear end whining. Especially with the towing you do with the landscape trailer.

I'm on my 6th 1500 Ram but haven't had the issue you are reporting. But it sounds like the rear differential. How many miles you have?

$169,000 yeah what it sounds like to me. The noise is like a tight ratchet strap vibrating

You can put one twist in a ratchet strap to stop that vibration.

Dad's 2500 has same problem. after a dozen stops at dealer, they put Ford grease in it and it went away.

Pull your cover and see how much metal you’ve done circulated through the diff. If a 4wd, that’s going to suck money wise

So if the rear differential has a bad bearing and metal in it it can get to the 4 wheel drive? I pulled the plug on the back and the oil looked clean but I’m sure it could be sitting in the bottom. I know probably dumb question

4wd meaning the locker in the rear. Pretty sure it has a locker.
Oil clean is a good thing

Pinion bearing will whine at first and start to eat the race and there comes the metal
