    Default Waterfowl Youth Day Tomorrow

Didnt realize this until paging through the regs earlier this week, but looks like tomorrow is a state waterfowl youth day. Maybe this has always been the case in SC, but have never heard of this. Good luck to those that go - the youngest boy and I are going to give it a go in the beaver swamp in the AM.

Our little swamp seems to be holding a few wood ducks, but a good amount of it is dry. Guess this year is shaping up to be a question of who has/doesnt have water.

State Youth Day: Nov. 11, 2023 (Legal Species: Ducks, mergansers, coots). Only youth who are 17 years of age or younger may hunt, but they must be accompanied by an adult of at least 21 years of age who is fully licensed. Youth who are 16 and 17 years of age, who hunt on this day, must possess a Migratory Bird Permit and a valid Federal Waterfowl Stamp. Daily and possession bag limits are the same as indicated for regular seasons.

    Calm down, we're going regardless.

After reading through the regs, looks like no permit or stamp of any kind is required for youths under 16.

And a side note I believe it should be 15 and under and veterans should be allowed to hunt the youth opener as well

    Nice wigeon!

Long as the Veterans continue to get the ability to hunt on the federal days in February I'm good with that.
