My family has been blessed with a decent sized piece of property in Hampton county. We have shot a lot of deer on it over the years. Only two of them in my lifetime could be considered mature bucks… one my dad shot in 2001 and one I shot in 2006. Last weekend makes three.
He was chasing a cowhorn through a two year old clearcut at 4:45 in the afternoon. It was a quick, tight, and far shot, but I guess the adrenaline did what its supposed to do and I made it happen.
He weighed 181 at the processor, and has some weird stuff going on with his rack, but makes him very unique IMO. His skull is at Racks and Plaques in Ruffin for a euro mount.
Theres a lot going wrong these days. Im always thankful for blessings like this.
