    Default Rack size this year

Has anyone else noticed that the quality of bucks throughout the state seem to be down this year?* My opinion is coming from my personal experience with sightings/cameras and the pics posted on SM.**

I have several "good bucks" that have no mass at all which is kinda odd for my area.* I wonder if the super dry summer had anything to do with it?

On the flip side of that, I have seen a lot more 200lb+ deer being killed than usual. One local processor has even posted a few in the 230 range.

We have killed two bucks on our place. Good mass on both. Both were 4+yrs old. 10pt and 8pt. There are small bucks too, but they grow up to be good ones as long as we are patient. Barnwell cnty.

I have a spot close to my house that I have the rights to ,, (152 acs) I have 11 different bucks 5 of which are in the 3.5 yr old range I don’t have a single mature buck on camera in this spot which I find odd,, these bucks are every day am and pm, in daylight. I don’t understand why there hasn’t been a mature buck stroll thru even at night. I haven’t and will not fire a shot there this yr it seems,, hopefully these bucks will feel safe next yr and stick around. I plan on putting mineral sites out come February

I just saw this thread. My son and I were talking about the same thing and wondering if we needed to put out a few more mineral blocks in the spring. We haven't noticed a decrease in size as much as a lot of broken off antlers or antlers that were damaged during velvet. Even BB's deer had a few broken points.

Best deer off my GA club in the 30 years we have hunted here. Me and John have hunted together a long time. Well deserved. He killed that buck with the 7-08 Remington model 7 I gave his son for his 10th birthday. We had four photos of this deer earlier this summer.

Biggest year for us in kershaw county by a mile. But we did get several hundred acres of new cutovers and that really helps summer feeding. We got multiple book bucks and had never had them before.

I would say I have noticed the opposite. All the deer I have on camera appear to have more mass than usual. Even the small scrub basket racks. But I wouldn’t say we had a dry summer either. Maybe dry since august but until then it was good.

The best way I know to see a big buck is to drop your Comprehensive coverage off your insurance policy.
