Redistricting is political. They claim race was used as a factor in deciding where district lines drawn.

Since 95% of blacks vote democrat, both parties choose areas where they can create democrat or republican districts.

It is only litigated when it does not benefit democrats.

One of the most gerrymandered(?) districts in the nation is the one James Clyburn is in.

I would like to see a state law that mandates district lines have to follow county boundaries. That would knock out a lot of this bullshit. It pisses me off to hear a politician try to explain the sausage making process of drawing district lines like I'm too stupid to see what's happening.

The last Presidential election, Trump/Biden 2020, Biden got 43%.

The percentage of blacks in SC is 26%. 95% vote democrat.

How many seats should the democrats have out of 7?

That is a good article. This sentence sums it up. "This redistricting technique is known as “packing.” Packing can be a double-edged sword, giving underrepresented communities a voice but also limiting them to one — and only one — member of Congress."

Democrats can concentrate a packed minority district virtually guaranteeing black representation. Their problem is they may lose black representation by un-packing in hopes of gaining a second democrat seat. It would be the definition of gerrymandering to accomplish a black seat and a second purple seat.
