    Default Berkeley county rut

I was Looking at the calendar at work for time off
if hunting in Berkeley county what would be the best time to take time off work to hunt
I took a week off last week of October last year and it wasn’t that great
Looked at the whitetail vulnerably calendar from rubberhead but probably won’t be able to take time off in peak times until last week of October through 1st week of November
If you were hunting what week would you pick

From game camera pictures over the years on my property in Dorchester County, the week around October 15 is the time of the most big buck pictures during daylight hours. I feel the most confident in that period combined with what the solunar tables say. But you should ignore that.

That’s the start of the “seeking” phase. My cameras showed the same thing last yr, middle Oct especially with a good cool front is fire

It’s past. Rut, pre rut, killability I’d take sept 15-oct 10 anywhere in the low country I’ve hunted.

Watch for dead deer on the side of the road...things are just now starting to happen. I'm still thinking October 11-16 this year is going to be good for those that don't hunt deer over bait.

We are at 8 hit by cars on a 13 mile stretch of road from Roebuck to Woodruff in the last 7 days. That’s just the ones noticeable. The destroying of land has helped but you can’t deny when they are starting to move more. I’ve seen full blown rut behavior the last 2 nights between 1-2 am. One was a definite shooter and the other was 2 young 6 points dogging the piss out of a poor doe.

Carried my daughter for a pitching lesson in NC Sunday and counted 11 deer on 95 from Florence/20 exit to the lumberton exit on 95. 50/50 buck to doe

This is no joke. I'm not sure what exactly that he's got figured out that I thought I had figured out until he came along and made me realize I didn't....but he has it figured out.

I have got it figured out as well. I just go hunting when I am able to go hunting. However, the majority of my big deer have come in mid October.

The problem is, work really gets in my way during the fall.

They were definitely on their feet yesterday, today and I would imagine it continues for a while..

    Orangeburg Berkeley county line
    5000 acres
I rode maybe half of it counted 3 bucks 9 does
Saw numerous fresh rubs and scrapes that are recently made and that’s just from driving by in the truck. I’d say between now and next weekend
