In Laramie getting my last fast food meal for the next 18 days. Will be camping high and listening to bugles tonight. Hope I can post some elk-tongue pics before this trip is over. Good luck to everyone with whatever y’all be chasing!

Good luck!! I’m just west of Laramie right now. They are talking but not quite ready. We’ve called in 3 small bulls so far and watched a smaller bull pushing some cows around yesterday evening. I still have 2.5 days to get it done.
What Rubberhead said!
Well, after listening to 4 or 5 bulls all around camp from 1130 to 4am and not getting any sleep, I headed off to a way-back spot my bud pinned for me. After 30 minutes of slow moving into a huge burn, I hear a heavy animal coming over a saddle to my right and rear. I shift my stance and get ready...and a bull moose just cruises by at 60 yards, so I got a cool video of that. I ease on up to the top of a ridge to get the thermals moving away from where I think the elk will be, and within 3 minutes of glassing, I see a cow and two calves. They move off with no bull in sight, so I continue on...very happy with the quick action and encouragement.
About 2 miles or so later, a great day turned bad in a hurry. Short story is I tripped in some nasty terrain littered with deadfall and pungee-stick-stumps, and I'm lucky the rocks that my knee and hip hit didn't break any bones and more lucky that the Broadhead and arrow that somehow came out of my quiver and sliced my thumb didn't remove the digit entirely or end up in my torso. I limped my ass back up the 1000' and 2.5 miles of burned out, deadfall hell...(it was great going in) and drove back to camp where I could barely get out of the car. I took some pain meds and packed my shit and headed home. Going to lick my wounds for a couple of days and head back up when my bud is off and we can hunt together. A really simple mistake could have been a whole lot worse, and it has me rethinking this whole solo hunting stuff.
