Default Opening day.. how'd y'all do?

    How'd everyone fair?

My buddy's field we normally shoot on opening day doesn't have birds rigt now, so decided to take a shot at the local public field.

I took 9 with the ole 16ga 11-48 from 3 o'clock to 6 when they stop the hunt. Was surprising easy to find a good spot. Wasn't one of the good stady ones but 84° and a slight breeze wasn't too bad. I think Chief would disagree.

Chief is happy. Tired and hot, but happy.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Killed my limit with a 410 in about a hour. But I can shoot a little.

We had plenty of birds, couple of us killed limits.
Enough birds to shoot again Monday and sunflowers haven’t hardly dropped any seeds yet so we should have several more shoots

1st time in few years now that Dad and I shot the same field on opening day so we had a good time.

These photos were taken 27yrs apart today

I like that gun, Willie. I have one as well, dad asked about shooting it for Monday and I said sure as long as you provide your own shells for it

Sounds like you were on the X. I shot the 16 today and Chief picked up every bird I hit.

Being in a public field, I picked up all my hulls.... 1. Because they ask you to and 2. I reload the hulls cause 16ga ammo is higher than camel cock. Made it easy to report on the # of shots I fired. 31 was the right answer. Not my best outing but a longshot from being my worst.

Thanks. I'm real proud of it. It's my fave bird gun.

I sent it to Briley to have thin wall chokes installed. Had the modified in her today.

I’ve tossed around the idea of doing it for mine but haven’t talked myself into it yet. I rarely pull it out of the safe

Today was a good day in Lamar.

I was happy that my kid shot his 1st limit; most of us limited out.

Ready to do it again on Monday.

It's money well spent. The end result is I shoot it more. And that makes me happy.

Hunted a public field. About 100 guys/gals there. It was slow. About 5 people were getting all the shooting. Not good.

Sportin always seems to have a good field! Him and his brother are good shots too.

I didn’t even shoot today and plan on working Monday. Just have too much work lined up at the moment. It’s a blessing and a curse

Good job everyone that was able to get out and have some fun

Had a great shoot. Limits in the field for everybody but two. They could have sat there all week and might of scratched out a daily limit.
