I once read an interview where he said “you have to retire first to make a career worth living”. He built an empire living his best life. God Speed Sailor.

Damn. Your music was always fun to listen to, the stories you told made us feel like we were right there with you living them too. One of my favorite songs of his is "we learned to be cool from you". Give it a listen if never have. We were gonna try to see him in concert the next time he came close. GODspeed Jimmy Buffet. May Heaven greet you with a margarita for 1 hand and a cheeseburger for the other.

I read his autobiography years ago. I really like some of his music. He made more money than most any other celebrity. He must’ve been a sharp business man. He was a big time libtard though.

Parlayed mediocre music into multi-billion dollar enterprise, certainly had something figured out!

$4.8 Billion in business holdings with net worth of $1b is a pretty good business man. He knew his niche, stayed in his lane and knew his market better than his brother Warren Buffet.

I grew up on his music. My sister was a huge fan. Been to several shows. Met him when I was 9th grade (‘82) at the Rain Day Inn in Garden city, sitting at the bar. My sister was convinced it was him so she asked him. He admitted it and got up and played 3 songs, then sat down and finished his beer. There were only about 10 of us in there. We had just gotten off work at the Western Steer. I didn’t know what a celebrity was and he wasn’t jimmy EFFING buffet yet. Seemed like a nice enough guy. He looked like he just got off a weeklong shrimp boat trip.

My old boss was really good friend with him in Bahamas but drifted apart. “He smoked too much weed for me” was reason given.

The attached article is the Jimmy I liked.

He lived on the same street on Summerland Key as my best friend’s Grandmother for a time. I spent my college summers there and saw him often.

We could hear him practicing his new songs and working on his sailboat “ Savannah Jane” ..

    He was quite a guy.

‘’ Them that don’t like him , don’t know him”

God Speed Jimmy, thanks for the music.

His music is not good for every day, but the days where his music is good are certainly good days.

My dad loved Buffett. I wasn’t a fan but I respect any musician who makes fans happy for decades like he did.
