    Default Boat detailing in Charleston

Who is a good, reasonably priced (charleston I know) person around here? Don’t need anything fancy just haven’t detailed or waxed the boat in 4-5 years.

I got quoted $26 bucks a foot a few months ago for a wash and wax. I am not that lazy. I made some effort, called my nephew and told him he best be learning to wax a damn boat...

I don’t know that you will find a “reasonably “priced professional detailer around the Charleston area. At least not with the handful of people that I’ve talk to about it. I got two prices back that was similar to JAB’s.

Yeah I see them on Instagram and they seem to do good work. They’re on my list to call.

High speed angle grinder with a 3m buffing pad installed makes quick work with a wax job.

I did my 25ft boat last week in less than 3 hours alone.

I think Carolina Marine is also the same guys as Low country skiff shop. Seem like they do good work, however I have no experience with them. There are some people I would stay away from down there.

I got a guy I use. His name is Houston Kappler, Kapplers Marine Service. Does great work. His number is 843-934-3399. He has a shop near O'burg but will do onsite work and does quite a bit of work in Charleston. Tell him I (Lee) recommended him. I spend quite a bit of money with him. MG

2nd for Andrew Olsen and Olsen Boatworks. He used to detail the new Freemans before they left the shop. He does good work.

I try to spray down the boat with a 50/50 mixture of water and Clorox about 20 minutes before a thunderstorm.

Clorox will peel all of your wax off. Starke makes some good products. Drake boat detailing on YouTube has tons of videos on everything from simple waxing to wet sanding if you decide to do it yourself.

Nothing better than a good rainstorm as soon as you pull in the driveway.
