    Default 2018 F150 Ecoboost

Ford 3.5 Ecoboost. Cold start rattle and drivability issues (misfiring). Replaced chain, tensioners, phasers, and cleaned the built up carbon off the intake valves.

    Nice!
    I have the cold start rattle only on a 2018 5.0 F150 Lariat 4x4
I am saving up for a visit to you. Just irritating, runs great other than that for 2 or 3 seconds a day.
Shoot me a text on a rough $ estimate for phasers only if you get a chance
    Thanks

    He was not.

Catch can won’t help stretched chains nor carbon build up on intake valves on a direct injection engine. Fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber on all direct injection engine and no longer into the intake ports. Therefore the top of the intake valves no longer see fuel to keep them clean.

I use to be able to answer that question with a yes. Once Toyota left the 5.7 V8 platform I can no longer say yes.

If they didn’t break, I suppose mechanics would be homeless.

Keep in mind, the clean air act, cafe standards, and the EPA have driven all manufactures to scramble to meet emissions. No one but our Government is to blame.

I am planning to come see you for oil and brakes on the '17 chevy this week if this storm doesn't screw up the plan. Need some shrimp?

I thought the catch can helped prevent some of that crud from getting into the motor.

Does the rattle indicate or cause bigger problems?

Eventually if the chain got stretched enough or the tensioners gave up and it jumped time, you’re going to have a bad day.
