    Yep, then it’ll break on a 1-2# B-Liner.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The creator of the ugly stick is from Lexington and worked for Shakespeare in Columbia/Newberry. All he got out it was a plaque.

The Ugly Stik Tiger is hands down the toughest rod period, dot, end of discussion, next subject.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Have you really had one break on a beeliner?

I still have a pile of them that came from Shakespeare's annual sale out at the fairgrounds 20 or so years ago. My father in law used to go every year buy them by the handfuls for $10-15 apiece. Most of the ones that were left at the coast have given up. The ones I have here that are mostly fresh and some salt use are still going.

BSB, right after beating up on a big AJ. We laughed about that all day. Like 3” from the tip.

Still have some of them on loaner rods. They’re cheap and normally tough, no feel or sensitivity though.

A 7' 2" Shimano medium heavy will hold it's own. I have two that are 10 years old and I still use them every trip.

I just retired all of mine. All my cat rods are now Hell Cat or Mad Cat. I'm very impressed with what they can hold. I havent tried a shark yet. I dont like playing with them with all the trash piles out in front of the pier. There is still one pile with metal on it, and if they start that direction I like being able to man handle them and get them to the pier quick. It will cut braid wire in a heart beat. I've tried and tried to get that one up, that is about the only one that hasn't been moved. I've had multiple 50 plus# at this point and you can do what ever you want in terms of pressure. Even my middle heavy will take it. I have a few of those but most are heavy and a few extra heavy.

I did keep one (ugly) out and wrapped it in glow in black light tape.

My neighbor has had 2 ugly snap this year. They were old and not well kept, lots of time in the sun. We landed one of the fish, the other was a no go.

    Yup, he's crazy...

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.

Sort of like Toof. But way smarter.

He invented it on their dime. I’m assuming that’s what they were paying him to do.

When they came out 45+ years ago I saw a commercial like the one below. At the end of the commercial when the guy bends the stick around where the tip touches the rod handle without the rod breaking was pretty impressive.
My next trip to the KMart fishing section I found one a tired to do the same. That rod cracked with a loud noise and splintered; it was basically shredded to pieces.

And the salesclerk acted like he expected me to pay for the rod.

But they're good rods. I got 7-8 of them, mostly medium to medium heavy for live bait fishing.

This is one of the best of many commercials.

I couldn't break one on a fish if I had to.

I don't what these boys are talking about.
