    Default July 29-30 Chanterelles

Found a few place in at the deer club (Orangeburg County) growing Chanterelles. I worked up the nerve to eat a few yesterday with no stomach problems and no hallucinations so I picked a few more this afternoon. I fried them in a little bit of oil then hit them with black pepper and a touch of soy sauce. They were very good. BTW - I haven't wash these just yet - I don't want to do that until right before I cook them.

Nice to see you found some. There must have been some rain down that way, as my two patches have completely dried up.

Glad you are enjoying them…sorry about the lack of hallucinations, but it seems that there are others on here that can square you away on that front. ;-)

They about the only ones I trust myself to identify. I cooked the whole bunch and had it with hash, rice and vinegar barbeque.

Love a good chanterelle. Need to find some around here and get to picking. Have previously only picked them in upstate.

About to start growing some lions mane and pink oysters in the house.

Music Man's BBQ in Moncks Corner. It was kind'a reddish and smells like cooked onions. If you're ever in Moncks Corner, I suggest you stop and get a couple of to-go plates. It's a buffet but I don't recommend eating there. The appetite of the local denizens would probably turn your stomach and insult your sensibilities.

I have eaten there a few times. Good stuff. I noticed the same thing. Figured I probably shouldn’t stop in too much unless I wanted to look a lot like the regulars.

At $12 for a to-go plate, my wife and I often comment to each other that we're subsidizing the dine-in herd members but I can still get two meals out of one to-go plate so it's still a bargain.
