Tomato Plants - pruning
Do y'all remove the yellow leaves off the bottom of the plants as they get taller? Seems to make sense, but curious what others do.
-
Yep, cut them off below the level of any tomatoes

I just kinda pop them off as they yellow at one level.. my father used to pop them off at tomatoe level, but he also suckered. I don't do either really anymore. If a stem looks unhealthy or might cause damage that's the only time I do.

I have been on a youtube rabbit hole. Prune an sucker seems to be the way to go. HS has it looking good.

Below the tomatoes. Good information. Thanks I have a habit of also pulling the shriveled up leaves you have pictured as well. Will stop that.

if they pop off easy I will.. if I have to tug, I don't

you do want the ground to be clean, not all covered up in funk, moisture, and all of that, it'll bred some kind of fungus or bring in bugs. I try to keep everything clean and any bad fruit out.
* and I haven't touched it in a few days, besides one watering, so there was zero primping.. some of those nappy dead things hanging I would have pulled off.
