Yeah, I've been squirreling away money from the wife in a mason jar for 17 years.

Paid $10,400 a year minus insurance, taxes and retirement.

It leaves $3,500 a year for the jar. I figure I got close to 60k.

It's not the "above the table" that makes most politicians unexplainably rich. Notice I said most.

Tier 1 or 2 type bribe?
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

You could have left "most" out.

So this retirement is based using $10,400 as salary? What percentage do you get for life? Gotta feeling your retirement formula for pay is figured different than mine. Not many get benefits and retirement from a part time gig

Pretty sure the road repair decisions are made at the county level.

It may have already been put out for bids and nobody even bid on it. That's what's happening around Florence. Not enough paving companies for the work out there.

Why are you asking, DT? Perhaps we shoulda started there?

Legislative Retirement was changed in 2012.
"South Carolina. Act 278, Laws of 2012 (House Bill 4967), closes the General Assembly Retirement Plan to those newly elected to the General Assembly in or after November 2012. New legislators must choose between membership in the South Carolina Retirement System or the State Optional Retirement Plan, a defined contribution plan.
Current members of the General Assembly plan will be subject to a member contribution increase from 10% to 11% of compensation as of January 1, 2013. No other changes will affect current members except a provision that the purchase of air time will be at an actuarially determined cost as of January 2, 2013."

Good question. My kids are encouraging me to get a sport fisher.
Y'all talked me out of it last time.

I am getting old and work too much. PT Clinics, apartments, legislature and 4 active expanding residential developments have me wondering what is important.

I threw money away for years attracting ducks. Now I travel for them. Much cheaper.

How do I get my kids to play with me? Expensive toys help. It sure ain't my personality.

There is a 45 Jersey Cape for sale with a bridge, salon helm station and sea keeper. You and your boys can sleep on it and travel. Cummins motors and cruises at 25plus knots (they say).

Unless you go 55 plus, this may be a good fit. Make them learn, help, repair and work on all of the systems on this boat. You won’t regret it.
