    Default Alaska

Made a quick trip up to Alaska. Had the trip scheduled for this time last year to celebrate our 30th but had to postpone it because of last year’s event.

Had a blast! Tried for Kings the first day, but we only had several strikes and I broke one off (bad spot in braid). Second morning we went for trout and grayling. In just a couple hours we caught over 20 fish. My wife learned to fly fish and ended up catching the 2 largest. We caught some of the largest rainbows they’ve seen this season. (2) 20” and (2) 17”-18”. All we’re on dry flies.

After fishing we headed to a glacier tour. We couldn’t get to the dog sledding excursion because of the cloud cover.

Food at the lodge was outstanding! They have a chef that teaches culinary classes in Florida and he brings 2 of his students up every season for experience. Purty swanky for out in the middle of nowhere.

    Man that’s awesome.

I’d love to pick your brain about it sometime.

Told my wife we’d go next year.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

It's hard to believe that itty-bitty helicopter got that big ol' boy (and his lovely wife) up in the air safely, especially after a meal like that...

Holler anytime. Gotta book it approx a year in advance, they fill up quick. They'll tailor-make you an all inclusive package. It's cheaper that way, we checked. They get better deals on the rooms in Anchorage and such.

Very nice. I'm heading up there in October to Kodiak. Blacktail, ducks, and fish.

This was a dual trip with sightseeing and fishing. Next time will be all hunting and fishing, especially after she learned to fly fish and loved it.
