Eiders
A non-duck hunting, fishing fanatic buddy is always texting me pictures of birds he sees while fishing.
The other day he was trolling for flounder in Murrells Inlet and sent me the usual “what kind of duck is this” text.
Quick response “common eider, likely crippled from this past duck season.”
His next text wasn’t expected.
“He’s got a hen nesting in the hole above him.”
Hmmm, well maybe she’s crippled and he just stayed with her.
Eiders nesting in SC….
This text came about a week after a plantation manager told me has hen bluewings with biddies.
Cool stuff.

Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
