    Default Math Trick

I'm pretty good at math, so I did it in my head, then on paper, and finally on a calculator just to confirm my mathematical calculations.*

Each time I got the same answer, and sure enough, it IS my very favorite movie...EVER!*

DO NOT cheat. DO YOUR math, THEN compare the results on the list of movies at the bottom.* You will be AMAZED at how scary true and accurate this test is:*

    1. Pick a number from 1-9.*

    2. Multiply that number by 3.*

    3. Add 3.*

    4. Multiply by 3 again.*

    5. Your total will be a two digit number.* Add the first and second digits together to find your favorite movie (of all time) in the list of 17 movies below:*

    **
    Movie List:*

    1. Gone With the Wind*

    2. E.T.*

    6. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly*

Yeah, got that part, I’m asking how you figure out the formula to make that happen.

The formal is y=3((3x)+3) where X is your starting number and Y is the ending number whose digits add up to 9.

Simplified you get y=9x+9 or y=9(x+1)

When X=1-9 the possible combinations are:
    18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90
All of these answers two-digits add up to nine.

    This trend breaks at 10

Regardless, adding together the digits of a number can't really be described in a formula since it's not an algebraic function but just a trick played on our base 10 number system.

Multiplication is addition at its core. For example 3x=x+x+x.

Now, since we’ve proven multiplication equals addition we can say that addition equals multiplication.

So we have two multiplications by 3 and one addition by 3 and 3+3+3=9 (and to further prove the facts above, 3(3)=9 as well) so we’re multiplying whatever number between 1-9 you choose by 9 (or…..adding it to itself 9 times because, well, now you know why) and as stated above all single digit multiples of 9 result in digits that add up to 9.

    No sorcery.
