    Default Willys Jeep Registration

We are inheriting a late 40s Willys Jeep. I am wondering what plates we should go with and why.
Antique, Year of Manufacture, or just regular plates?

It will just be used to circle the neighborhood and occasionally run 1-2 miles down the road to the gas station for my usual 2 for $4 sausage biscuits with the green gristle in em’.

I would tell you to google, but I was curious myself. That would be a cool vehicle to own. I would go Year of Manufacture. More options

To qualify for an Antique license plate, all of the following must be true:

You own a vehicle, automobile, or motorcycle that is at least 25 years old.
You use the vehicle only for club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, or similar events.
You do not use the vehicle for general transportation.

You may qualify for a Year of Manufacture license plate if all of the following are true:

You own a vehicle that is at least 30 years old.
You drive that vehicle like a regular vehicle.
Your automobile, light truck, or vehicle that you own does not have a gross vehicle weight more than 11,000 pounds and an empty weight more than 9,000 pounds.

Unlike an Antique plate, you may regularly drive a vehicle with a Year of Manufacture plate.

I have regular plates on my classic Rovers……antique limit you to what you use the truck for and I don’t see much benefit to them. My taxes are like $40 a year, so unless you just want to have something different, I don’t see the point.

I read that also Jozie. I guess what I was getting at was if it was much cheaper to go that route vs a regular plate. But chessbay answered that.

    Thanks

1965 and a 1969 and both are sub $50 each year.

I would suggest an agreed upon value policy, just in case…….you may know that already.

What carrier are y’all going with for your older vehicles?

We picked up a 62 recently and the quotes I’ve been getting seem high.

I’d order one from these guys. Has all types of years. My dad just got
    One for his 73 duster

I have used Haggertys in the past...just recently moved both the Jeep and the C2 to American Collectors Insurance. Both stated value policies, 5k miles/yr limit, zero deductible, and I get to pic the shop in thr event of a claim.

I've had to fight value/method of repairs with the at fault insurance company in the past on a classic auto in the past and it was an absolute disaster...file the claim against your classic policy and let them subrogate it.

And as to the original question, I have regular plates on both. Taxes on both are less than 50/yr.
