    Default Triggers

Looking to replace the trigger on my old 700 .270 and do some hunting with it. Which of these would y’all recommend?

I put a Timney in my old 700 .270. Made a huge difference with a lighter pull and clean break. Happy with it.

Don't think you'll be disappointed with any of those options you listed. Don't have experience with the others, but I dropped a Timney in the Ruger M77 I used to have and it was a vast improvement. Those Ruger triggers were infamous for sucking.

If yours is like mine, the one you have is fairly adjustable.

I have Timneys in 700’s, Triggertechs in a few and Rifle Basix in one. The Timney and TriggerTech are better IMO. And I think the TT may be just a tad cleaner break but it’s minute. The Rifle Basix is in a Savage and very light, PITA to get adjusted too.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

3lb is about right for a hunting rifle.

I have Timney, TriggerTech, and Jewell. They are all very good. I prefer the break of the TriggerTech the most. It's also the easiest to adjust, as the adjustment screw has "clicks" that equal roughly 1 oz. per click, depending on the model. I've heard Bix N Andy are super nice, but they have a price tag to match it.

But you wouldn't go wrong with any of them.

I think I have 6 Timneys. 4 in turkey shotguns and 2 in rifles. All suit my needs very well.

I've got Jewel, Timney, Trigger Tech. Q, Best Damn Trigger ever. For an AR platform it is solid. I like it better over the Gieslies I have.

Timney is the easiest and best for an 700 platform.

I have several Calvin Elites, Hunters, and HIT. I would redo all my Hunters with HIT, and still may. The Calvins are in custom rifles I built, and use for long range and hunting. But just know those have hair pin triggers.

The HIT is a very nice balance.

I put a timney in my savage 270. It is pretty good. Not sure any other would be better but not what I was expecting.

Just got back from the range and shooting a 25-06 with a Trigger Tech special and a 6.5 Creedmoor with a Calvin Elite. Both are really good, but the Trigger Tech breaks cleaner IMO.

Thanks fellas. I have a Timney in a Ruger and have zero complaints. Just wanted to see what the masses thought.
