    Default North East

In the quest of “chasing 49” I leave Friday for some North Eastern states. The North West was very kind to us.

My question is… are Easterns different in the northern climate? Not asking for pins, just behavioral habit.

Don’t fret, you’re going to be just fine. They aren’t our turkeys, that is all. Send me some pictures.

Them damn birds out West aren’t near the creature of habit like SC Easterns. Talk about covering some ground.

You’re a good ol’ boys from the Midlands, so I assume you’re referring to North Carolina and Virginia when you say northeastern states.

A friend of mine hunts up that way every May. He killed 2 up there this month. Says those birds are more plentiful and easier to work than down here.

That part of the country is also really bad with Lyme disease so check often for ticks. Good luck!

They are still easterns, but as I’ve often stated with absolute certainty….If you can kill X game animal in the southeastern US (especially in SC), you can kill X game animal
anywhere else on earth that they live.

I grew up hunting in WV. I think the gobblers there would frustrate most SC hunters, particularly us here on the coast.

But I agree with what you said in the context of bowhunting deer.

I hunt SE Ohio a good bit and it's close to WV, so I get you. The Ohio birds in those hills are almost as frustrating as most of the SC birds I chase, but running an arrow thru a deer is exponentially easier than in SC. When I drive thru WV, I look around and know that the folks getting it done in those hills are pure badasses and have a whole other understanding of playing the wind.
